चंडीगढ़ स्थित पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी (PU) और उससे संबद्ध शहर के 11 अन्य कॉलेजों में छात्र संघ चुनाव 6 सितंबर को होंगे। इसकी घोषणा PU के डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ स्टूडेंट वेलफेयर (DSW) जितेंद्र ग्रोवर ने की। इसके साथ ही पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी में चुनाव आचार संहिता लागू हो गई।
चुनाव से जुड़े प्रोग्राम के अनुसार, 31 अगस्त सुबह 9:30 से 10:30 तक नामांकन किए जाएंगे। उसी दिन दोपहर 12 बजे PU और कॉलेजों के नोटिस बोर्ड पर प्रत्याशियों की लिस्ट चस्पां की जाएगी।
एक सितंबर दोपहर 12 बजे तक नाम वापस लिए जा सकेंगे और दोपहर ढाई बजे प्रत्याशियों की फाइनल लिस्ट जारी कर दी जाएगी।
6 सितंबर की सुबह से वोटिंग होगी और दोपहर 12 बजे के बाद वोटों की गिनती शुरू की जाएगी। शाम तक चुनाव नतीजे घोषित किए जा सकते हैं।
DSW जितेंद्र ग्रोवर ने कहा कि इन चुनाव के दौरान किसी भी तरह के प्रिंटेड मटेरियल के इस्तेमाल की अनुमति नहीं होगी।
इस मौके पर मौजूद चंडीगढ़ पुलिस की SSP कंवरदीप कौर ने चुनाव प्रक्रिया के दौरान पर्याप्त सुरक्षा प्रबंधों का भरोसा दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि चुनाव में जितनी पुलिस फोर्स की जरूरत होगी, वह PU और अन्य कॉलेजों में तैनात की जाएगी।
66 हजार विद्यार्थी लेंगे हिस्सा
पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी (PU) में तकरीबन 16 हजार छात्र हैं। शहर के अलग-अलग 11 कॉलेजों में भी लगभग 50 हजार छात्र पढ़ रहे हैं। यानि इस बार छात्र संघ चुनाव में तकरीबन 66 हजार छात्र हिस्सा लेंगे।
PU में प्रधान पद के लिए 7 लोगों के बीच मुकाबला हो सकता है। यूनिवर्सिटी में इस समय अलग-अलग राजनीतिक पार्टियों के स्टूडेंट विंग एक्टिव हैं। इनमें कांग्रेस पार्टी का NSUI, भाजपा का ABVP, शिरोमणि अकाली दल का SOI और आम आदमी पार्टी का CYSS शामिल है।
इनके अलावा पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी स्टूडेंट यूनियन (PUSU), इंडियन स्टूडेंट्स एसोसिएशन (ISA), द स्टूडेंट्स फॉर सोसायटी (SFS), पंजाब स्टूडेंट यूनियन (PSU) ललकार, INSO, SOPU और HPSU भी मैदान में है।
पीयू के लिए पंजाब ने दी ग्रांट
पंजाब सरकार की ओर से मुख्यमंत्री भगवंत मान ने चुनाव की घोषणा से एक दिन पहले ही पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी को ग्रांट जारी करने का ऐलान किया। पंजाब सरकार ने ब्वॉयज हॉस्टल के लिए 25.91 लाख और गर्ल्स हॉस्टल के लिए 23 लाख रुपए जारी किए हैं।
गर्ल्स-ब्वॉयज हॉस्टल का विस्तार होगा
पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी में गर्ल्स हॉस्टल नंबर-11 सिर्फ दोमंजिला बना है। इसे बढ़ाकर 6 मंजिला किया जाएगा। इसके लिए 23 करोड़ रुपए जारी हो चुके हैं। ब्वॉयज के लिए हॉस्टल नंबर 9 नया बनेगा। इसके लिए भी पंजाब ने 25.91 करोड़ रुपए जारी कर दिए हैं।
